Over the past few years, I’ve become quite impressed by how great a tool LinkedIn is for enabling business development.
This article shares the “muscular” process that I built and refined for creating opportunities with the help of LinkedIn — a process that anyone can use (sales professionals, business developers, job hunters, etc.). I didn’t codify everything that we go through with my clients here, but this process will get you firmly on the path; tweak it as you go along to make it your own.
Why use LinkedIn?
It’s a database that most members maintain somewhat actively, so it’s an obvious choice for being the center of gravity of your business development/job hunting labor.
If you’re a business developer, disregard the parts that are not applicable to you. If you are unemployed, then don’t disregard any of it. Please note that when I use the term “business development,” it includes job hunting.
