How to plan for employee absences

A couple of years ago, a client had to go through an extended period when three out of four back-office employees were out due to sickness.

Can you imagine having 75 percent of the staff you rely on for invoicing, administrative support, managing the office, and so on, out?

He was able to engage a temp for answering the phones and routine administrative help, but since the only thing she was trained on was answering the phones and general office tasks, much of work of the office came to halt.

Granted, that was an unusual situation, but since business sustainability is critical to success of your enterprise, you need to have a plan to deal with it.
