3 problems with technical expertise (and how to solve them)

What’s the one key ingredient to growing a successful business? 

If you set up a BOGSAT (bunch of guys/gals sitting around talking), you’ll get a number of different answers to that question.

I can tell you what the answer isn’t: technical expertise.

Hold on before you have a cow. Of course, if you have no idea about the nuts and bolts about your product or service when starting your business, it’s going to be awfully difficult to deliver something that customers will want to buy. I can't think of many cases when technical expertise is not required to run a company.

The problem is that technical expertise can be a roadblock to operating and growing a successful company. What are some examples, and how can you address them?
