A couple of months ago, Yanik Silver was my guest at the Strategic Business Forum. Internationally known for his marketing genius and his penchant for disrupting markets, he has taken eight different product ideas over the $1 million mark. During our interview, he shared a number of his “maverick entrepreneur” insights with the room. A few of them are:

Leverage: Avoid trading time for money. Even if you currently sell time, most businesses have some kind of hidden intellectual property (IP) that can be packaged and sold with little time investment. He gave an example of how a local mortgage company can package the secrets to its success and then sell that concept to mortgage companies outside of the D.C. region. By giving those other companies exclusivity in their own markets, they can create a great source of recurring revenue that requires little to no effort to manage. Figure out what your hidden IP is.
